Try out the newest attraction at Durango Mountain Resort – the Purgatory Plunge Zipline!

Purgatory Plunge ZiplineNEW - Video! Click Here.

Purgatory Plunge Ops:
Sat & Sun. 11am - 4pm

While the Purgatory Plunge Zipline debuted last summer, it’s an entirely new experience this winter as “Plungers” zip over skiers hanging out on Purgatory Beach and Purgy’s patio. Thrill seekers soar for more than a football field at 35 mph, providing an après ski experience that is unique to most ski resorts as it is one of only a handful of ziplines open in the winter at a resort. The adventure starts from the Purgatory Village Tower, the tallest structure in the Durango area where you can race your friends or family members for an exciting thrill ride.  The Purgatory Plunge is open year-round, coinciding with resort hours of operation.  $20 at the Ticket Office.

SNOWCAT SKIING/SNOWBOARDING AND GUIDED BACKCOUNTRY SKIING

San Juan Ski Company Snowcat Skiing
GIVE THE GIFT OF POWDER WITH SNOWCAT GIFT CERTIFICATES!!!

DMR-based Snowcat Skiing Operation has More Terrain than all Colorado Ski Resorts Combined!

With almost 60 square miles to explore in the rugged San Juan Mountains north and west of Durango Mountain Resort, the San Juan Ski Company is Colorado’s largest catskiing company.

Independently owned and operated, the DMR based-snowcat skiing operation has more permitted acres than all Colorado ski resorts combined! Instead of sharing powder lines with hundreds of frenzied resort skiers/snowboarders, it’s just you, a handful of guests, two guides, a snowcat and thousands of acres of kick-ass incredible skiing and snowboarding.

Since the San Juan Ski Company’s terrain is challenging, the snowcat operation caters to advanced skiers and snowboarders who are comfortable shredding deep powder in trees. However, trips geared for intermediate skiers have been added to the trip lineup this season.

New for 2011/2012 are family powdercats and learn-to-ski powder snowcats. Both trips allow for a more relaxed approach to catskiing where the quality of the experience, not the quantity of vertical skied or the total number of runs, sets the pace for the day.

For advanced to expert skiers, the San Juan Ski Company has added steep clinics and guided backcountry tours. Also new to the trip lineup are half-day snowcat trips. Due to logistics, half-day trips are not always available.

Single seats start at $250, plus tax. Private cats are $2,500, plus tax.

The San Juan Ski Company’s reservation desk is in Backcountry Experience, an outdoor specialty store, located on the plaza level of the Purgatory Lodge at DMR. For information or reservations, call 1.800.208.1780 or visit www.sanjuanski.com.

New for the 2011/2012 Season:

- Guided Backcountry Skiing (earn your turns skinning with snowmobile access)
- Steep Clinics (are your ready for gnar?)
- Family Powdercats (specially priced for families; kids ski for $100 with a full-paying adult)
- Learn-to-Ski Powder Snowcats (includes ski instruction and powder skis)
- Half-day Snowcat trips (subject to availability)
- Shuttle from Telluride
